Standardization and innovation: SAP RISE is the digital heart of the new Tuscan Multiutility

Plures is a Tuscan multi-utility company formed through the merger of three major corporate entities and operating in the environmental, energy, and water sectors.
The new group had to manage a fragmented application ecosystem consisting of three different ERP platforms supporting nine companies.

To address the complexities arising from the merger and support future growth, Plures has chosen Lutech as its technology and digital transformation partner, with the goal of centralizing processes, standardizing data, and building a modern, scalable, and secure IT architecture.

The challenge

The main challenge was to harmonize disparate processes and systems while ensuring operational continuity and accommodating specific business requirements.

Specifically, Plures needed:

• an integrated group-wide control model based on standardized processes and data
• greater reliability and timeliness of financial and economic information
• a reduction in application complexity and IT tools
• a modern, scalable Cloud platform, ready to support the group’s future growth

The Lutech Solution

Lutech has designed and developed a solution based on:

• SAP S/4HANA in RISE with SAP as the group's sole ERP system
• Integration with SAP BTP, to ensure flexibility and scalability
• a secure, scalable cloud architecture aligned with new digital paradigms

Lutech’s proposal stood out for its ability to combine process standardization, data quality, and a long-term vision, leveraging the experience gained in complex, multi-company SAP projects.

Implementation

The project was carried out using a hybrid implementation model, designed to balance an industrial approach with a focus on the specific needs of each organization involved:

• analysis of the processes and tools used by various companies in their source systems
• definition of a common Group process model, while preserving business-specific features where necessary
• implementation of key back-office processes in SAP, with a focus on standard functionality
• streamlining of custom solutions, which will be retained only when strictly necessary

The results

Thanks to the transformation process led by Lutech, Plures now has a single, integrated ERP platform that enables more efficient and coordinated management across the group. The standardization of processes and improved data reliability have enhanced collaboration among employees and between companies, simplifying operational and decision-making activities.

The adoption of SAP S/4HANA through RISE with SAP has also made it possible to optimize the user experience, expand coverage of back-office processes, and enable the use of certain features on mobile devices. The transition to an efficient and scalable cloud infrastructure, combined with the performance of the SAP HANA in-memory database, now provides a solid technological foundation to support Plures’ future growth and innovation.
